So, this is my Inspirational Challenge #8. I won't give much more than this pic, so work with it.
What comes into your mind when you see this pic and read the text? You have so much freedom to decide what kind of story this could be... There are so many open questions.
What happened to Leana?
Is Buffy really Leana?
What is the LotR timeline?
And why and how did Buffy end up to Middle Earth?
TIP: This is a BTVS / Lord of the Rings crossover

And again, this is some kind of therapy fic.
BTVS/LotR xovers are one of my favorites, and Buffy and Legolas are kinda cute together, but... Yes, there is a but.
There are too much of those fics where PTB screw Buffy's life again, and she is dumbed to the Middle Earth, and she has to join the Fellowship. Buffy and Legolas fall in love. Yadda, yadda, yadda...
Okay, okay... It's sounds cool. But why couldn't someone try something new for while? Something different... So, this is kinda my intention to fix that problem...

I have already had my fair share of LoTR crossover fiction, but that doesn't mean I do not have any ideas.
Considering Legolas was born sometime in the third age (or so it is assumed), I think it would be best if he met Leana earlier in life, as in when there were a lot of problems with the wood-Elves back in the mid-Third Age. She could certainly return after the end of the Fellowship into the Fourth Age. There are many things you can add to make it action-y, but I can see the fiction above all as Angst/Drama.
As for Leana, she could have been a different sort of Elf (considering Legolas is Silvan or Sindar, depending on your translation of things), such as a Noldor or a descendant of such. She could have taken the ship to Valinor for her family's wishes or perhaps she ran into one of the Valar who realized what she would become in the future and Eru would have made a deal to send Leana into the future only to have her return when she died. Then Buffy dies and... you know the end of the story.
I would take this, but I have far too many things going on, and would like to try my hand at something other than a LoTR crossover. But I may change my mind if more ideas develop.

This is somthing that if I had any writing talents at all I would write.... If a wonderful idea, LOTR is my favorite kind of crossover for Buffy. She could end up in Middle earth by in Season 7 when she jumped into that portal from the bag... instead of ending up in a desert with those 3 shadow men she could end up in middle earth.....could drop into the golden wood or somthing like that....

Going on the last idea, she could fall into middle earth instead of where the shadowmen are, and maybe this is a long, long, long way into the past. THis could still be where the shadowmen are.
She could have always been the one captured, and then something happeend to take her to where she was. That would explain her dissapearance and reappearance.
I am a BA person, so this is out of style for me. But this idea has a lot of potential to become one of those GREAT ones that you find everywhere.

Building on Goddessa's idea...
What if the Shadowmen had already exhausted their search to find the perfect woman on Earth? Instead, they had to go elsewhere and found her in the form of an Elf on Middle-earth. They gave her the demonic side, called her a Slayer, and when she died her essence was passed on to every Slayer throughout the generations.
Until the balance was in check did this one girl with a resemblance to this Elf be called. On her travels to find out who she really is, she reappears to the home she never knew she had and finds out that she was this whole other person...
And, of course, that would mean Buffy would be out of the post-apocalyptic fight... but that's always okay.
It would definitely make sense that that was the reason why she both disappeared AND reappeared.

Interesting... It really makes sense.

Hmmm... It totally builds off of my idea, but it's too bad it couldn't be BA. Oh wel-I won't be writing this for sure, but, oh well.
Hmmm... The Shadowmen could have always been dark people, say, someone worshipping Sauromon or something, and they wanted to create evil out of innocence, and failed greatly or something. And then they had to go out and find what they did, banishing her from her world.

The three Shadowmen were perhaps three of the non-ruling ringwraiths? They finally create something, perhaps accidentally, that could destroy them and they should banish her to Earth... until she appears again and... whoops, the cycle begins again... or does it?
This could keep on going for awhile.

Yeah. It could become on ongoing cycle. Only this time, they have the girl's family and friends and loved ones following her tracks.
