McPlotBunny # 16 : NOT SO HAPPILY EVER AFTER
BTVS / ANGEL crossover
TIMELINE: BTVS S6, Angel S3

- Buffy has fallen in depression after her resurrection, and the Powers finally understand that she needs rest. They can’t offer her a place in Heaven at this time but they promise she can go to some kind of paradise (another dimension maybe) where all the previous warriors/champions of Light live. Buffy takes the chance but is a little worried how the Hellmouth handles her leaving (not that it would be her job anymore, she has already died twice so someone else can be concerned about it). The Powers promise they’d bring a new Slayer there (is it Faith or someone else?)
- PTB promises also that she could make one wish what she can bring with her to her new home. She hesitates but finally says that she wants Angel with her, so she can finally get her happily ever after. PTB wouldn’t want to accept this because Angel is their best champion (after Buffy, of course), so they made a deal: She has to tell the deal to Angel by herself and get him with her. If Angel defuses to leave, Buffy can’t make another wish anymore.
- Buffy is a little afraid to ask Angel to leave with her, so she writes a letter / leaves a message in his answering machine (stupid way to contact him and tell the whole story, but she is really, REALLY afraid of his answer).
- She waits couple of days, and there isn’t any contact from Angel. But she is still hopeful. She waits more, but still nothing. Then she finally makes her decision and leaves alone. She has got her answer now: Angel doesn’t care about her anymore, and she can’t force him to leave with her against his will.
- How the Scoobies react when she told them that she is leaving? Well, they’re probably really angry at first. Maybe they didn’t know about her Heaven time yet, so Buffy tells them about it and they finally understand why she wants to go. Buffy tells them about Angel too. They don’t know what to think about him, but they accept that Buffy could be happy only with him.
- When Buffy is leaving, she asks her friends not to contact Angel because of her leaving. He had obviously made his decision, and she has to accept that. That’s it. The Scoobies are a little pissed off that Angel broke Buffy’s heart once again, so they promise not to say a word about Buffy anymore – not ever.
- And Angel? Did he really want to break Buffy’s heart again? Could he be so cruel to her? Not really. He never got the message. Cordelia got rid of the message because she didn’t want Buffy to mess up Angel’s life again (let’s pretend that Cordelia is already in love with Angel – she is obsessed to get Angel, and wants to make sure Miss Slaygal won’t take him from her, and she would do anything for to get that goal). So, Angel never knew about his chance to live with Buffy happily ever after. And BTW, PTB knew what happened to Buffy’s message, but they didn’t inform about it because they were happy that Angel still works for them.
- After some years: The Scoobies never broke their promise and didn’t tell Angel about Buffy. Cordelia is now even nastier than ever, and still obsessed about Angel. And Angel, he had moved on. He has fallen in love with Cordelia and is happy with her (and no, he has no idea what a bitch Cordelia is – love makes us blind, huh?). But then one day the whole web of secrets starts to open up. But by whom? Who tells Angel about Buffy’s happy life in paradise, and what wish she made to PTB? Is this person Spike? He probably can’t keep his mouth shut, right?
- And what about Buffy? Is she living her happily ever after? Who else is living with her in paradise? Is Kendra there? And what about Doyle?
