McPlotBunny # 9 : THE SCARS OF MY HEART
BTVS
TIMELINE: BTVS - Season 3 (The Prom, and after that)
~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *
- After Angel broke up with Buffy just before the Prom, she was heartbroken and quite mad, and ready to send Angel to the first circle of Hell. She was crying when Spike found her from the cemetery (not important which one, just pick one of them). He had come back to Sunnydale (again) even if he had promised he would stay out of Sunnydale. But you know him: Dru has left him (yes, again), and he had thought maybe the Slayer could be so merciful and kill him.
- Sooo, she is crying her eyes out and he is quite drunk and ready to leave his miserable (un)life behind. But they aren’t really mood for fighting, so they just sit there, staring at each other. After couple of insults (from both sides), they start to talk: Buffy about Angel, the big ungrateful bastard (her words, not mine); Spike about Drusilla and her sick fixation for fucking slimy demons (his words, not mine). It’s kinda funny how nice conversation they had.
- Buffy, pretty out her mind, started to think about how she needed a prom date, and she asked Spike to be her proud cavalier. Spike’s first thought was: ‘A date with the Slayer? HELL NO!’ But then he thought: ‘What the hell! She is actually kinda nice bint – for a Slayer. And maybe this could piss off the big poof.’ So, the whole thing is settled. Now she has a prom date, but then again… She gotta tell her friends who her date is. Well, maybe she could surprise them. That’d be fun! And she hasn’t even thought about how Angel would react about this new situation. Hell, it’s not his fucking business, he had probably already run away from Sunnydale, she thought afterwards.
- Buffy didn’t tell about Spike to her friends, so it was kinda big (okey, MAJOR) shock when she walked in with Spike. But the Scoobies didn’t get the biggest shock, it was Angel who got it. He felt guilty about the whole Prom thing, and Buffy being without date, so he thought he could do her a favor and go to the Prom even if they weren’t together anymore. Well, that was his plan, but it kinda went kablooey when he saw her dancing with Spike there very friendly.
- So, what did Angel do? (made a scene, left without saying any word, fought with Spike after the Prom…?)
- How would he react if Spike decided he stays fighting with Buffy against the Mayor?
- Did he change his plans? (he still left Sunnydale after the Graduation, he stayed so he could keep eye on Spike, he wanted to get back with Buffy…?)
- How Buffy treats Angel now? (friendly, wants to kick his ass, wants to keep his out of her live…?)

Ahem.
This could also result in this beautiful naughty-style fic! I happen to somewhat 'ship' Buffy and Spike, and this would be a perfect start. She is heartbroken. He is heartbroken. He wants to piss off Angel. She wants to piss off the world.
What would happen if they got a "room" post-Prom? Would it surprise anyone if she actually came out of the experience with a vampire enamoured with her - just not the one she always expected to be there?
As for Angel, I can foresee major pummeling occurring... especially on Spike. I can also hear Angel saying things like, "How could you do THAT with HIM?"
Buffy, of course, would reply, "Because he wanted me."
Poor Angel. Yay for Buffy. And Spike wins against the man who always beat him.
I feel rather cynical about this one!

Some Buffy / Spike sugar goodness? Well, bring it on!
I'm mostly Buffy / Angel shipper, but I have my moments when I have some Angel issues (stupid jerk left her in the sewer. Poophead!). But I like also Buffy / Spike fics - well, I like Big Bad Spike, not season 6 or 7 Spike (too fangless for my taste).
So, what was I talking about? Oh, yeah, right... Buffy and Spike. This wasn't meant to be Buffy / Spike fic - not exactly. At least I wasn't trying to do it. I think I mostly thought they could form some kind of friendship, and have good time (and of course piss off Angel).
But I'm not against any Buffy / Spike goodness if they decide to have some Post-Prom fun. ;D

The only time I liked Spike was when he was trying to kill Buffy. I adored him in "Lover's Walk". Anyway, this is one of my 'forbidden desires' things. I really did not like the way Angel left Buffy... so it would seem that if she can inflict some sort of emotional distress onto him, more power to her.
I was not really talking Buffy/Spike, just Buffy AND Spike. You know, this odd sort of friendship united around riling up Angel. And then there's Angel who is dead-set against this friendship. Could you imagine Xander's reaction, considering he despises Spike in the later seasons almost as much as he despised Angel in the earlier seasons. Angel and Xander could even unite against Buffy and Spike.
This would make a fantastic comedy.

I can see comedy and sweetness. I don't like Buffy/Spike, just Buffy/Angel. I like Buffy and Spike though.
She wants to piss off the world, and he wants to piss off the world, so maybe they can get together as friends, not romantic.
Maybe he alrady ahs the chip or something, like the Initiative stuff starts earlier, or maybe they bonded secretly-like maybe he was there for her after killing Angel in LA or something.
Well, she is insane kinda already, and he can relate in a way, so maybe this is thier way of pissing ANgel off, and maybe throwing Xander out of hte scoobies or at least setting him straight.
Spike will probably get pummeled to death but when has that ever stopped him. Buffy is harsh to Angel after the breakup, so maybe WIllow is giving him a cold shoulder. And I think that Willow always kinda had some wierd thing for Spike, so maybe she was in on the plan.
Wesely is a weasel in the BTVS seasons, so he should be locked up or something. Maybe he is too preoccupied with a supernatural illness or something, to notice Spike even in the picture.
When Faith shoots ANgel, maybe Buffy hides the fact from all but Spike and whoever is in on thier 'secrets' that she fed herself to him. Or maybe Faith shot Spike, thinking now that Buffy is in love with the bleached-blonde vampire, leading to Faith falling in love with Spike and feeding herself to him. Or maybe both vamps get shot and Faith is somehow redeemed to all but the regualar humans and the slayers feed themselves to the vamps to cure them. Would the amps know/remember it? Or would Buffy and Faith become close with the 5x5 and H&H theory again, now plotting to catch Spike for Faith and teach Angel a lesson and keep him with Buffy. Dru said something about Spike loving a slayer or something. So who says it's Buffy...whay not Fay(Faith)?
Okay, I think I'm all posted otu for this one at the moment...

You know, that comedy idea is kinda interesting. I like that. You are both right, this is definitely Buffy and Spike friendship story. I don't think either of them would be ready for new relationship so shortly after their previous break ups. Right?
So, comedy, huh? What kinda of funny things there could be? Of course there is that shock thing when they see Buffy and Spike together. Willow is probably ready to faint, Giles is wiping his glasses, Xander is ready to kill Spike, Wesley starts to scream like a girl, and Cordelia... What about her? And can we get more out of Oz than 'Huh?'
And of course there is Angel. He wants to punch, kill and murder something, but he can't make a scene right at the moment (the Prom, you know, he can't ruin Buffy's big day). So he keeps his eyes on Spike. And of couse Buffy and Spike try to piss him more off.
How we can get more fun? Buffy and Spike could be acting like love sick puppies, which of course scares her buddies. ('What has Spike done to Buffy?' 'Is she a vampire?' etc...)
Oh, we can't forget Harmony. She is perfect comedy spice. She could try to seduce Spike, and Buffy fights with her ('Harmony, he is mine! Hands off!'). At this point Angel is probably so angry and fuming that he could do anything. Do you think he is now learned his lesson?
And about Xander. I think he needs to learn some lessons too. I hate how he always intefered Buffy's life, and criticized about her decisions. Bad puppy needs some punishment, right?

Hmmm... I hope someone takes this idea up and does something with it. It sounds so interesting.
Oz, I think, would realise what they're doing, or maybe confront and puclicly ignore the wrongness of it. Cordy would probably mention something about Spike being hotter then Wesley and Xander or less hotter then Angel or soemthing.
Yess... I can see the wiping of glasses and the white fainted look now. But I don't think that Angel would just wait at the sidelines and watch, even if it is Buffy's 'special day.'
