So, this is my Inspirational Challenge #74. I won't give much more than this pic, so work with it.
What comes into your mind when you look at this pic and read the text? What do you think?
What is the timeline?
What is her relations to O'Connells? Is she their daughter? Some other relative?
Who is looking for her? And why?
TIP: This is a BTVS AU / The Mummy OR Mummy Returns crossover

I think that this would be post the first movie, but the Mummy Returns never happened. Signs point to her, (has she just become the slayer and do her parents know?) and then everything goies wacky. Maybe she starts to find that she has an interest in the things other then ehr life. When she was little, maybe seh had a bad experience which threw her off.
And I think the O'Connels should be her parents. And maybe if Angel O'Connor (I think that is his last name) comes by, things would get interesting. Maybe he is a guy that works in stuff like artifacts, or maybe he is a guy trying to hide the arm of what is called the Judge, and he comes to her for help, finding her from a dream.

Since this is AU, I would see Buffy as a daughter, surely. This is 1930s England after all. Either that, or as a sister to Evie or Rick. That way, her age will be preserved and the adventure would begin without parents in their middle ages.
If this is Buffy in the current century, then she has a choice. She finds a relic or artifact or something that proves she is a relative of the O'Connells. It means that only someone with the blood of the family can use it and she can use it. Then she can go back in time and do whatever adventure it is they are set to do.
Or maybe Evie sent a message 70 years into the future, knowing that the O'Connell bloodline would end with Buffy (if Joyce was once an O'C or else she had a different mother and Joyce was just adoptive) and asked her to come back to the past to prevent something terrible from happening - her death. Maybe Buffy was sent using the magics of the Medji or something into the future and is the true blood daughter of Rick and Evelyn and sister to... err... I keep forgetting his name.
I had other ideas for this, yet... my mind is suddenly blank.

I kinda like the idea of Buffy being a daughter of Rick and Evie. And then she has of course a little brother. Was his name Alex? Whatever... Poor Rick and Evie who have two hyperactive kids, always looking for trouble.
But then again. Buffy has to be young if she is their daughter. Otherwise O'Connells should be much older.
But, Buffy could also be Rick's sister. I like that idea too. And as much trouble as her brother - obviously.

Evelyn's brother is Wesley. If she is Rick and Evie's daughter, then maybe she was sent to the future or something to protect her, and now she is called back to her own time and has to save the world yet again. If she has a brother, he would be Alex, and then I can see her joking about being glad that Xander chose that name.
I could see the medji powers, or maybe slayer powers-maybe the original desert the First Slayer resided in was the one the Mummys are in.

I actually had an idea for this one, and it would fulfill a B/A romance. I might take it for myself (considering my mind has been processing this since it came up with it).
Anyway...
Buffy Summers is the widow of an Angelus Summers, a Greek Anthropologist kidnapped and "murdered" ten years before after the birth of their twin children. His family had a relic known as some obscure name which was sought after to bring back some great ancient Egyptian power. However, they were unable to come up with it, and her kidnapped husband was said to be killed and his bones were brought back to her. DNA tests proved that Angelus had been murdered and with it came a curse - in ten years, she would lose more.
Now, she is engaged to another Doctor, a Psychiatrist by the name of William Devereaux. He has slowly been sinking her and her children into madness, having them believe they will never amount to anything. Now, she stands alone after William and her twins disappear, the curse finally coming to effect. She has two weeks to find them or else her children will die. She goes to her brother, Rick O'Connell, older than her by two years. Since his wife Evie knows nearly every single artefact discovered in England, she has no one else to turn to, considering that police officers will hardly believe in curses and deceptions.
Enter the adventure to find the relic which will save her children's lives. Ultimately, she discovers that someone else close to her has deceived her. Her husband was never killed, but was held captive in his own madness. Now reunited, two families now have to escape a curse that will seem to last forever... a curse that could still destroy their lives even after the relic, thought lost and plundered, is found.
I managed to make it a B/A, but used his name in more of a Greek sense, hence Angelus. He is far from evil. In fact, compared to William, he was downright sweet.
Once again, this was just an idea. It could be Anck-su-namun after the relic to restore her lover to health. Or it could be an entirely new evil. It just depends, I guess.

Hey, not bad idea, Aly. Quite a lot different from the ideas I had. We could get at least three different fics. Firs: Aly, your BA fic. Second: my idea that Buffy would be either Ricks's & Evie's daughter or Rick's teenage sister. Third: Buffy is sent to back in time to meet O'Connells that are her relatives.

Thank you, Madame Muse ;D
Oh, for your idea on Buffy being their daughter... I would assume that at fifteen or sixteen, it would make more sense. While her parents are off caravaning around the world on their archeological digs, she is staying with another relative or going to boarding school or something. Suddenly, she's being targeted and even under police protection, she is no longer safe. She turns to someone (author's choice as to who) to help protect herself and discovers that her parents' digs aren't just searching for mementos, but for artifacts that save people's lives.
That was just a spur-of-the-moment idea.

... oooo... maybe she is even the slayer, which she just has to roll her eyes over when she finds out what her parents are doing. They probably don't know about her duty. She could turn to Giles, who has forsaken the Council, and Angel to help her.

That would work only if we back it up about sixty years or so... or else move the Mummy storyline about sixty years into the future, unless you want Rick and Evie to be Buffy's great-grandparents or something. I would say to move them back, or create sort of a time bubble that transports them back through time.

I was talking about AUing the timeline and putting the stuff in the past, but whatever.

I figured you were.
Now, here is a thought... a Slayer in the 1930s. It would definitely be a little more interesting...

Yeah... she's all totally independant and women are still frowned upon to be without thier men or parents... you know... I'm so glad that I was born when I was, and not any earlier... of course, if I was born earlier, things would be a hack of a lot cheaper too..

No kidding! My parents were raised in a very rural part of the midwest. I grew up on a farm, so I knew the "old" life. I didn't know cities like Chicago or Madison even existed until I went to college. In my youth, we worked for our food. I couldn't imagine owning a television set even back then. We didn't drive to school... we walked the mile and a half back and forth. People drove their horses and other farm equipment up and down the dirt roads. All we had was one of those 1960's-style radios! That was my childhood.
Perhaps this is why the level of technology and entertainment is so intruiging today.
A bit off topic, I know... but a Slayer in the 1930's would certainly learn how to use some of those pretty pre-WWI British weapons. To see Buffy figure out a cannon would be wicked.
